Ken vs. Torture Porn

This past Halloween saw the release of the fifth installment of the Saw movie series, yet another spin on a merciless judge ensnaring people in lethal traps and forcing them to do the unthinkable to survive.
Upon the release of one of these “torture porn” movies, I will invariably hear the question, “Why do they keep making these things?”
“Because they cost $10 million to make and gross $50 million,” is my usual reply.
And this time, I was wrong: Saw V cost just short of $11 million and grossed $52 million at the end of its second week.
